MALAYALAM: diwali eid movies

Its payback time. This has been the break mammootty fans have been looking for all through this year. While eid is turning out to be the best time to release a mammootty film, double-roles are proving to be catastrophic for mohanlal. Mammooty's last eid release turned out to be greatest hit of the year and lal's last double-adventure udayon had collapsed.
This time also lal is facing double-trouble as photographer is facing a lacklustre opening and the chances of improving in collections are very less. Audiences have dumped the story of nature photographer Dijo John & his brother 'some other' John and photographer is lal's first flop of the year after the dream-run he had all through the year till now. Writer-director Ranjan Pramod stands guilty of making a film with no logic at all.
Meanwhile, mammootty's pothen vava scores much ahead of photographer simply bacause it has a little logic. And there is absolutely no magic. I watched pothen vava and its just nothing more than an ordinary entertainer. Joshy don't have anything special to offer. Mammooty handles vava with ease. And yes, he dances again in this film & I feel pity for him. Why are his directors forcing him to dance again and again while his body in no way is flexible!. But he handles comedy scenes so easily. Usha uthup's mom character, with a scent of the 'anappara achammma' in godfather is also well-etched. There are some good comedy scenes and the movie is watchable. After the moderately successful turuppugulan & balram vs taradas and disasters prajapathy & BCMK, mammoos is back from the ashes just like a pheonix bird. Producer Lal will recover his costs while photographer' s producer Howly Pottoor will suffer holes in his purse. Suresh Gopi's Bada Dosth is just released and its fate is not decided. The trailer looks promising & the downfall of photographer will surely help the film.
